Acceptance

The ability to embrace what lies beyond our control while focusing on what we can influence is one of life’s most profound lessons. Loss, change, uncertainty - these forces shape us, yet our relationship with them determines whether we find peace or resistance. Acceptance reflects the serenity that comes with surrendering to life’s ebb and flow, recognising that true strength lies not in defiance, but in the grace of letting go.

This piece was, in part, inspired by the artist’s own experience of loss - the passing of a friend who embodied the art of acceptance. She approached life with an unwavering ability to distinguish between what could be changed and what should be embraced. In honouring this perspective, the artwork manifests as a golden amber hue, with a base layer of ochre representing harmony and the grounding presence of nature. Over this foundation, vibrant reds and yellows emerge - tones that speak of warmth, freedom, and the quiet joy of making peace with change. These luminous tones serve as an offering from the artist to the viewer, symbolising the nourishment and vitality of warm sunlight, offering comfort and renewal as part of the journey toward graceful acceptance.

Acceptance engages dynamically with light and reflection, shifting and evolving based on the viewer’s position. The mirrored surface invites a moment of introspection - an opportunity to glimpse oneself within the composition, to consider how perception shapes experience. In this way, the piece is not just an exploration of acceptance but an invitation to embody it, to see change not as something to resist, but as something that, in its own way, offers renewal.
