Courage

Courage is the quiet fire that moves us to act despite fear. It is not the absence of vulnerability, but the decision to step forward when uncertainty presses in. This work explores the psychology of courage in all its forms — moral, emotional, and physical — and the moment of ignition when hesitation is overcome by resolve.

The piece radiates a fiery warmth, its copper-red surface alive with shifting light. Beneath this glow lies a layered construction of orange, cool red, and warm red resins, each stratum embodying a different aspect of the courageous act: the spark of motivation, the shadow of fear, and the enduring strength that follows choice. Together, these colours converge into a single, luminous field — an optical depth that seems to burn from within, a reminder that courage is not found outside of us, but forged internally.

Set against the mirrored ground, the viewer is drawn into the work, seeing an abstracted version of themselves within its glow. In this reflection, the copper fire belongs to them too — not a distant symbol, but a living invitation to embrace risk, truth, and action.

Courage is not only to be admired; it is to be lived. This work asks the viewer to find their own spark in its depths and carry it forward.
