From Spectral Studies to Full-Scale Works
My practice unfolds in two stages: the intimate emergence of an idea and its full-scale realisation. This page explains how both forms work - and why each is created as an original artwork.
For Collectors
Both Spectral Studies and Full-Scale Works are originals - never duplicates or scaled versions. Each is created independently with its own structure, light behaviour and conceptual resolution.
The Studies reveal the idea’s emergence in an intimate, immediate form. The Full-Scale Works present its full depth, offering a complete, immersive realisation. Though they share a conceptual lineage, they differ in scale, light behaviour and spatial impact. Each stands alone as a distinct stage in the idea’s life.
Commissions
The commissioning process begins with a conversation about your space, the concept you’re drawn to, and how you want the artwork to interact with light. I then create a Spectral Study to explore the idea, followed by a proposal outlining scale, structure, materials, and timelines. Once approved, the full-scale artwork is created specifically for your environment, ensuring it is completely unique to you.
Spectral Studies
Spectral Studies are small, complete artworks where an idea first appears through colour and light. They allow me to explore how spectrums of colour and light behave before working at scale.
They are not sketches or drafts. Each study is a resolved, original piece - the first expression of a concept.
Typically A3 and A2 size formats.
Full-Scale Works
Full-scale pieces are the full realisation of the idea. They are created for specific spaces or exhibitions, where scale, structure, and light behaviour introduce new optical and conceptual possibilities.
A full-scale work is not a larger version of the study; it is a separate artwork that evolves from the same core idea.
